The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge

I served as the graphic designer and marketing manager for the (now defunct) non-profit organization The Arts Council of the Blue Ridge in Roanoke, Virginia from 2010 to 2012.

I started there as an intern during the summer of 2010⏤fresh out of college⏤where I created the branding and marketing materials for ArtView: Visions and Voices, an exhibition of local and international artists hosted by The Arts Council in collaboration with the Roanoke Valley Sister Cities organization.

Once brought on full-time, I helped rebrand the organization, including a new logo, stationery suite (letterhead, envelopes, business cards, name tags), signage, and imagery for social media. I also helped design and implement a new website, complete with a calendar of local art events, which I managed and updated. I also managed our artist memberships, organizational memberships, fundraising efforts, and two gallery spaces at Center in the Square and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Most fun to design for were the events. We hosted the Perry F. Kendig Awards each year at the Taubman Museum of Art. The “Downtown Living Tour” served as an important fundraiser, offering open condo and apartment tours across downtown, many of which were owned by local artists and collectors.
